As we slowly encroach upon yet another iPhone manufacturing season, it’s reasonable to assume that we’re going to start seeing even more rumors and details surface about Apple’s upcoming line of flagship iPhones. So far, we know that Apple is expected to release three new iPhone models this fall, including flagship iPhone X successors boasting 5.8- and 6.5-inch OLED displays, in addition to a 6.1-inch mid-range iPhone model featuring Face ID and more which could retail for as little as $550, some analysts have predicted.
Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2018 is just a week away — and with the annual iPhone manufacturing season set to kick off shortly thereafter, all bets are off as far as what the company has in store for its second-generation iPhone X-inspired handsets.
New iPhone X Colors?
According to some recent FCC filings, Apple was believed to be working on a gold-tinged iPhone X device for a possible release during the first half of this year. However we haven’t heard much about the variant above and beyond that, with WWDC less than a week from going live.
Now, straight from one of Apple’s new production plants in Bangalore, India, we’re allegedly getting a fresh look at some newly leaked prototype images of Apple’s upcoming iPhone X and iPhone X Plus flagships, courtesy of Techno Codex.
“The leaked images show only the back side of the phone which is similar to iPhone X with its vertical dual rear camera setup,” the publication notes regarding the images, adding that “The prototype of new iPhone has a rich gold stainless steel frame and a violet and Peel green colour glass back.”
While we only have the back of the phones to go by, it’s clear from the images that what we’re looking at are two different-sized iPhone X-style handsets complete with Apple’s signature design, branding and vertically oriented dual-lens camera system. We can also see parts of the tarnished gold colored metal frame encapsulating the devices, hinting even more to their prototypical nature.
Are They Real?
Techno Codex goes on to speculate that these pictured devices could represent a new color variants for Apple’s iPhone lineup this year. While it’s also been rumored that Apple might “color things up” a bit by releasing a range of colored iPhone models this year, it’s highly unlikely that the company is planning a free-for-all along these lines.. I mean, really though — a green and purple iPhone X? Seems doubtful.
These images may very well be of actual 2018 iPhone X prototypes, but the rear panel coloring may have more likely been orchestrated by Apple to help factory workers more easily discern between them.
