More U.S.-based carriers are beginning to support LTE-enabled models of the Apple Watch Series 3, giving consumers more choices are far as their cellular service providers.
At launch, the Apple Watch S3 with cellular capabilities was supported by the big four U.S. carriers: Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint. Now, more regional and smaller carriers are beginning to pick up the wearable.
C-Spire, the largest privately owned and sixth largest overall U.S. carrier, announced that it would begin selling Apple Watch Series 3 models with LTE on Tuesday.
The carrier said that S3 models will be available online or over the phone (both for home delivery or in-store pickup). To promote the S3 availability, C-Spire is also offering a 50 percent discount on S3 models with the purchase of an iPhone.
In addition, Apple has quietly added U.S. Cellular to the list of official Apple Watch S3 carriers. Previously, U.S. Cellular, the fifth largest U.S. regional carrier, only offered GPS variants of the Apple Watch Series 3.
It’s worth noting that, at the time of writing, U.S. Cellular hasn’t officially announced sales of the device — and no LTE-enabled models are currently listed on the company’s website.
Other smaller regional carriers have also added support for Apple Watch models with LTE capabilities in the last few weeks.
Apple Watch Series 4
Apple is largely expected to debut an Apple Watch Series 4 this fall alongside new iPhones and other products. Though details are fairly scarce, the S4 is rumored to sport better battery life, a larger display, and possibly a new “trendy” design.
The Apple Watch S3 with cellular first debuted in 2017 and is currently priced at $399 new. Along with LTE capabilities, the S3 will be upgraded with Walkie Talkie, podcast streaming and other updates in watchOS 5 later this year.
